This is a letter written to everyone
from the Pastor Bertin Similien
(please excuse his English -- We did
not want to edit his letter).
Good Samaritan School Primary.
Founded in 2000 at La Hatte, Ile La Vache
to the south of Haiti.
La Hatte has at least 3000 inhabitants of
the 16000 Ile a vachois for the most fishers and
farmers. About fishing, it is traditional. By lack of good materials
fishing does not bring
almost anything to fishers and their family. When a fisher is sick, it
is hard to get some
money to go to the hospital. They do not give up the fishing because of
nothing else they
have to do.
As for the farming: because of bad season
that is to say drought or too much rainfall
when that occurs, the small garden of cornfield, sweet potatoes, and
etc. Destroy.
Inside of a small church run by Pastor Bertin Similien 2 classes of Good
Samaritan
School function; for the others two classes: one is under a HANGAR, and
the last one in
the living room of Pastor Bertin family's house. According to Pastor
Bertin Similien,
shelter the children for instruction in his family house is a good
sacrifice as being disciple
of Jesus Christ. For Pastor Similien Bertin, sit down a hundred and some
children on
bench of school is leading them on the way of social success.
To sit down the pupils, thanks to the
comprehension of Pastor Similien Bertin, the
benches of the church are put at the service of the pupils. Though the
benches are in bad
state, broken and old .On each bench sit down 4 at 5 pupils. The pupils
under the HAN-GAR, at rainfall time may not stay any longer for the teaching because
rain invade it. As
A result: pupils. teacher and everything wetted.
The Good Samaritan School works five days
in the week from 8 o'clock a.m. to 1
o'clock p.m. It is the only school of La Hatte at a distance of 60
minutes of walk to
Madame, 45 minutes of Trou-milieu two places where there is school the
nearest of La
Hatte.
The Good Samaritan School wish welcome
more children in age For school. This is
possible with help of many people of good faith. Therefore, it hopes
finding sponsorships
for children of this school, financing for the school built, and making
new benches and
fixing the old ones.

The teachers of Ecole Le Bon
Samaritan have threatened often to give up at the middle or at the end of the
school year
when it is very difficult for the principal to find money to
pay them.
The parents of the children of Le Bon
Samaritan are not able o pay the
scholarship of
their children. Their activities do not provide them enough money.
Annually, a fisher
does not earn more than $ 200 US, in a country where life is very
expensive.
Private primary School cost s expensively , $70 US a year plus money to
pay for books,
uniform and others things relative to school. Public Primary School are

For the island of 52km2, and of 16000 inhabitants.
At east of la Hatte is Madame Bernard, sat south of la Hatte is Figuier,
at north of la
Hatte is Trou-Milieu and at west is the sea.
As all over in the island of De-a-vacche la Hatte makes face of drinkable
water. They use
water of well in bad condition: that is to say improper water, sometimes
fill up of toad.
La Hatte is the first place, in Ile-la-Vache where Mgr Robert Margron put
his feet when he
came on the island to evangelize the people. According to some old
people still living
Mgr Robert Margron set a cross as soon he got to La Hatte.
People of La Hatte hope to reach development. They would like to pay
school for their
children to get school instruction but by lack of money they can not do
almost anything
for theirs. Your contribution about Ecole Le Bon Samaritan will smooth
their burden.
In Ecole Le Bon Samaritain, there are children whose father give up
their mothers : Civil
Evens and Civil Rodelin by example. Children of fatherless that is to
say father died :
Leveque Nobert and Leveque Linda.
Many children girls and boys aged of 11,12,13 yrs at least, not being
able to go to
school, work with their parents in woodcutting to make charcoal to earn
some money to
buy some goods for their survival.
Others go fishing with their fathers or their elder brothers. They often
spend 12 hours on
sea in bad weather. Sometimes because of not eating food before going
fishing at night
and the morning they are seasick.
With ECOLE LE BON SAMARITAIN, there is hope so that the children of LA
HATTE
Be breeders of tree instead of woodcutters of tree to make charcoal
